The Ohau Diversion Wall, which was built in 2008, is located in Lake Rotoiti, near Rotorua, New Zealand. The purpose of the wall is the diversion of nutrient rich water flowing out from Lake Rotorua through the Ohau Channel, along the edge of Lake Rotoiti into the head of the Kaituna River, as illustrated in Figure 1. Since the wall's installation the water quality has improved and algal blooms have reduced in Lake Rotoiti, an important recreational lake and trout fishery.
