Chinese operations in Zambia are frequently accused of human rights violations that include endangering workers and poor treatment of employees. But just how accurate are these claims? Not very, says a United States academic based in Hong Kong. Barry Sautman, an associate professor in the Division of Social Science at Hong Kong University of Science and Technology Clearwater Bay, feels so strongly about it that he and a colleague are preparing to publish a monograph on the topic.
