Development and Validation of Reflective Thinking Questionnaire for Senior High School Students

The development of reflective thinking skills has been one of the aims of various courses. This paper sought the need to have a reflective thinking questionnaire that will determine whether the students are engaged in reflection. Though there are existing instruments that measure reflectivethinking, this paper aimed to develop and validate a reflective thinking questionnaire which is intended for the use of senior high school students in the Philippines. The reflective thinking questionnaire is a four-point Likert Scale (ranging from 1 corresponding Strongly Disagree and 4 toStrongly Agree). The questionnaire was tested to a sample of 342 senior high school students. An exploratory factory analysis was employed to define the factor structure of the developed questionnaire. After the content validation from the experts and the calculation using factor analysis,the initial 26 item was reduced to 15 items and led to four constructs namely self-reflection’ mastery, feedback, and realization. The reliability of the whole scale and each constructs are satisfactory. The instrument developed is appropriate for use to senior high school students.
