Nok Pao Island: Tourist Attraction and Community-Based Tourist Products

摘要

This research paper investigates tourist attractions and community-based tourism products in Nok Pao Island, Donsak district, Suratthani province. The qualitative methodology approach was applied in the study together with observation, life-history approach, in-depth interview, andgroup interview, which are implemented as the research tools to collect field data. The research results found that the tourist attractions and community-based tourism products in Nok Pao Island were identifiable based on ‘5A’s’ with components as, (1) Attractions; Nok Paoisland monks house, mountains, lime-stone caves, and invisible beach. (2) Accessibility; a life jacket is provided for visitors during their trip, (3) Amenities; tourism facilities and public utilities such as water supply, electricity, hospital, and post office. (4) Accommodation; there isonly one home stay on the island, and (5) Activities; cave trail, invisible beach, sightseeing, round island cycling, and the unique design of the houses in the community. These tourist attractions and products were created by cooperation among the communities in Nok Pao Island.
