An Approach of Excellence Talent in Engineering Education Programme of Enhancing the Quality of Students

Excellence Talent is a new approach to improve the quality of students in preparing for their careers. The four elements of talent according to the Gallup theory are talent of relating, talent of impacting, talent of striving and talent of thinking; the application of the combined fourelements empowers students eligible for a career. These four elements can be harnessed to engineer education programmes, which may be utilised to guide students in seeking meaningful employment in the near future. The use of these elements helps students to have a reference point and to bemore efficient in facing future job prospects. Therefore, by learning these elements, students are more disciplined, motivated and cooperative and can think maturely when they enter the real working world. This study involves the final year students of the Bachelor of Engineering course atthe University of Technical Network (MTUN), which has links to 4 universities, namely, UTHM, UMP, UniMAP and UTEM. All of the leading technical universities are included in this network. The institution produces skilled graduates who are capable of working in technical areas. In carrying outthe investigation of talent, quantitative research methods were employed to obtain the essential data.
