摘要

In this study the change in entropy due to friction and heat transfer during compression is presented. The process of compression which involves heat transfer is governed by three parameters. These parameters are: compression ratio, adiabatic efficiency and the non-adiabatic efficiency. The simplicity of the proposed model makes it attractive for quick estimation of the losses during a compression process which involves heat transfer. The entropy change due to both friction and heat transfer is provided for different values of compression ratio, adiabatic efficiency and non-adiabatic efficiency. In compressor designing the proper selection of the adiabatic and non-adiabatic efficiencies will enable engineers to figure out when a certain compressor is being cooled or heated in a certain compression process.
