Consumption trends – Copper flat-rolled growth continues to exceed that for alloy grades

Continuing the trend of recent quarters, global flat-rolled copper and copper alloy production increased 6.5%y-o-y and 1.1% y-o-y respectively between April and June this year. Asian Pacific countries remained theprimary drivers of global growth and in particular China, Japan and Taiwan. Elsewhere, there was stronggrowth in Western European flat-rolled copper production, offsetting lower imports in to the region. However,US flat-rolled production declined on a year-on-year basis in the second quarter.
