NATO AIR POLICING CHANGES: RAF, SPANISH AND HUNGARIAN JETS IN THE BALTIC

CEREMONIES HELD AT the air bases at Siauliai, Lithuania and Amari, Estonia on May 2 marked the latest handover of responsibilities for NATO's Baltic Air Policing (BAP) mission and the start of the 50th rotation. The lead mission at 5iauliai was passed from the Polish Air Force to a detachment of JAS 39Cs from the Hungarian Air Force's 1st Tactical Fighter Squadron 'Puma'. Spanish Air Force EF-18M Hornets from Ala 12 (12 Wing) are augmenting the Gripens. The two units are normally based at Kecskemet air base, Hungary and Torrejon, Spain, respectively. The latest deployment marks the second time that Hungary has supported the mission and the sixth for Spain.
