摘要

Corticosteroid injections remain the most commonly used intervention to treat patients with trigger fingers. However, there is no agreement as to whether patients should be offered a second or third injection. Additionally, there are no widely accepted guidelines for the number of injections to be given before considering surgical intervention [9]. Several patient- and disease-related factors have been examined with variable degrees of influence on progress to surgery [1, 7, 11]. Most studies found that race, sex, age, involvement of dominant hand, hypothyroidism, anxiety, depression, previous hand surgery, and multiple-digit involvement are not associated with an increased likelihood of progression to surgery [1, 7, 10].
