Encourraging a good grounding in soils

An initiative launched by Soil Science Australia in 2015 is making solid progress teaching Australian schoolchildren the relevance and importance of soils in everyday life. The Soils in Schools program uses topics within the national curriculum and encourages a wider interest in our soil resources. Soils in Schools aims to: 1. promote soil science and its relevance to teachers and school students develop specific soil science educational materials based on the national F-10 curriculum 2. deliver the soil science educational materials, for example presenting at externally run teacher professional development conferences or via web-based teacher outlets.
