摘要

The Canadian government has determined that 21 inorganic substances are not harmful to human health or the environment at current exposures, making further regulatory action on the chemicals unlikely. One exception is silicon carbide, which the government said "is associated with effects of concern", even though it concluded current exposure levels to the general public are not of concern. As a result, the government said it is considering "follow-up activities", such as including the substance in future information gathering efforts. Silicon carbide is used as a semiconductor base material as well as an abrasive.
