China’s final guidance on new chemicals reduces some data requirements

China’s Ministry of Ecology and Environment (MEE) has published its final guidance on MEE Order 12 which, compared to the draft version published in August, reduces certain data requirements, increases acceptance of alternative methods and outlines several exemptions. The guidance, published on 17 November, will support the implementation of China’s revised overarching chemicals regulation for new chemicals, MEE Order 12, which was published earlier this year and comes into effect on 1 January, replacing MEP Order 7.
