Indian standards body to adopt several ISO benchmarks for leather product testing

India has announced it is to adopt international standards for the testing of hexavalent chromium (chromium VI) compounds and the total silicon and nitrogen content in leather products. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) concluded its consultation process with stakeholders and announced its decision to adopt the standards on 20 November. Formal notification to industry will be completed within the next three weeks.
