In a sunlit space in the ceramics department of the Victoria and Albert Museum, separated by only a glass wall from the collections themselves, Danish artist Malene Hartmann Rasmussen is settling in. She has just begun a six-month residency and already her work has started to populate the surfaces. On one side, vivid pastel-coloured ceramic flowers (Nokkerosen, 2017, overleaf) just back from the exhibition C'est le Bouquet! at the Fondation d'Entreprise Bernardaud in Limoges, France, demonstrate Rasmussen's exceptional skill in combining tiny ceramic elements to create hyperreal models of plants and creatures.
