In August 2016 the long-awaited report entitled Childhood Obesity: A Plan for Action was published by the Government. Through the enactment of this 10-year plan the government intends to tackle the country's rising levels of obesity among the child population. This is because the consequences of obesity for children lie far beyond the simple medical comorbidities that ensue in the wake of unhealthy weight gain in childhood (HM Government, 2016).The Government's plan to reduce England's rate of childhood obesity within the next 10 years is predicated on two primary goals:
