Finland’s UPM may build bio-refinery at Germany chemical park

LONDON (ICIS)--UPM is evaluating a potential bio-refinery project at Germany’s Frankfurt-Hoechst chemical production park, the Finnish forestry, paper, biochemicals and biofuels company said on Tuesday. If built, the plant would convert hardwood from sustainably managed forests in central Europe into up to 150,000 tonnes/year of bio-monoethylene glycol (bMEG), biomonopropylene glycol (bMPG) and lignin.
