LONDON (ICIS)--Germany’s Social Democratic Party (SPD) has agreed to enter talks with the ruling Christian Democrat Union (CDU), it said on Monday, after initially stating that they would not re-enter their 'grand coalition'. The SPD had pledged not to renew its partnership with the CDU to form a new government after Germany’s general election on 24 September, leaving acting Chancellor Angela Merkel scrabbling to shore up support with several smaller parties.
