Will President Trump go ahead with the $200bn additional tariffs against Chinese imports or will he delay or even abandon the idea? If the tariffs happen then watch out for how China will react as it holds the biggest prize in its hand – access to its huge domestic markets. But let’s say the tariffs don’t happen. This would not mean that the worst of the trade war would be behind us, as both sides in this dispute are locked into an approach that makes acceleration almost inevitable.
