EU conditionally approves Linde-Praxair merger

LONDON (ICIS)--European Commission regulators on Monday approved the merger of industrial gases giants Linde and Praxair, contingent on substantial divestments, but the deal remains under scrutiny in the US. The deal as originally proposed would have significantly reduced competition in Europe, the Commission said, by reducing the number of dominant players in the space from four to three and creating a new market leader.
