US housing starts fall 3.7% in April from March

HOUSTON (ICIS)--Privately-owned US housing starts in April were at a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 1.29m, a month-on-month drop of 3.7% but a 10.5% increase year on year, the US Census Bureau said on Wednesday. Single-family housing starts in April were 894,000, which was 0.1% above March’s revised 893,000. The April rate for units in buildings with five units or more was 374,000, the bureau said.
