US, China tariffs lowered trade, hurt consumers - IMF

HOUSTON (ICIS)--The tariffs that the US and China have imposed on each other have caused trade between the countries to fall while hurting consumers in the countries, the International Monetary Fund (IMF) said on Thursday. During the past year, the US had imposed tariffs on $34bn, $16bn and $200bn worth of goods from China. China retaliated in kind, bringing the value of goods under tariff to $500bn.
