US Goodyear to cut 1,100 jobs at tyre plants in Germany

LONDON (ICIS)--US tyre major Goodyear will be cutting a total 1,100 jobs at its German plants in Hanau and Fulda, it said on Tuesday. The company plans to invest about $122m to modernise and automate the plants, with future production focused on larger premium tyres, it said. In the process, overall capacity at the two plants will be reduced by about 3m units/year, mainly affecting production of smaller-sized, less profitable tyres.
