SCHWERTBERG, Austria (ICIS)--Although a free trade deal between the EU and the US is necessary to boost economic growth, the chemical industry could be excluded from it for some time on the back of incompatible regulations, the CEO of Austrian industrial group Engel said on Monday. Peter Neumann said the EU chemical industry’s prospects are bleak in terms of production due to high costs - both labour and energy - but added he remains confident EU industrialists can still thrive because they own the “know-how” and the technology to create advanced applications.
