Sheet Moulding Compound(SMC)is a material that can be easily tailored to specific needs due to its multi-component composition(glass fibres,thermosetting resins,filler,pigments,and additives!.Outdoor products like electrical cabinets are traditional applications which have been known for decades.In outdoor applications,electrical insulation,good mechanical properties,homogenous moulded-in colour and high weathering resistance(resistance to UV rays,water,and aggressive gases)are the key demands on the product(figure 1).
