摘要

AbstractMontelukast Sodium (MLS) as a corrosion inhibitor on the copper surface in 0.5mol/L H2SO4was researched with weight loss method, electrochemical measurements, scanning electron microscope, atomic force microscopy and theoretical calculations. Polarization curves manifest that MLS is a mixed-type inhibitor.EISreveals that the inhibitors adsorb on the copper surface. Weight loss experiment results indicate the adsorption of MLS on the surface of copper is discovered to accord with Langmuir adsorption. Furthermore, kinetic and thermodynamic parameters of the adsorption process are calculated and discussed. Besides, theoretical calculations are utilized to explore the mechanism of inhibition of MLS.Highlights?Montelukast Sodium has a great corrosion inhibition efficiency for copper in H2SO4.?Montelukast Sodium is a cathode-based mixed-type inhibitor.?TheΔG
