Iran’s MSC among 22 companies punished by new financial sanctions

The United States introduced new financial sanctions against certain Iranian corporations and banks, blaming them inproviding financial support to a paramilitary group. Mobarakeh Steel Company (MSC), the largest local steel producer,is mentioned among others.On October 16, the US Department of the Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) took action against22 corporations with business interest in the automotive sector, mining and metals, as well as financial institutions,“many of which have significant international dealings across the Middle East and with Europe,” according to the officialstatement.
