Vietnam’s steel exports, imports increase in January-February

Vietnamese manufacturers managed to increase export of steel products in January-February 2019, supported mainlyby demand in Southeast Asia. Meanwhile, steel imports, which usually decrease, went up as well.Steel exports from Vietnam reached about 2.21 million t in January-February, up by 34% year-on-year, according toGeneral Statistics Office of Vietnam. In February, however, the figure was 4% less, compared to January. In particular,local manufacturers continued to raise supplies to ASEAN countries (around 56% of the total export), supported bydemand recovery in the region.
