European sections and merchant bars producer AFV Beltrame Group announced its intention to increase prices for the whole product range on limited availability of the material.The producer will raise selling prices for its products shortly. “This decision comes from the costs of prolonged productive interruptions occurred during the last months, which caused critical issues concerning the stock range and level in our European plants,” Beltrame said in a statement. In Italy particularly, the producer is targeting a EUR 20/t growth in merchant bars prices, according to a local trader. The producer said it was ready to take similar production interruptions in the future to support the price increase. In Italy, AFV Beltrame Group stopped longs production for 3 weeks in May and is expected to halt operations for 2 more weeks in June, market sources report.
