摘要

In a second round of talks in early Aug., officials from METI endeavored to explain to US government officials that Iranian crude is essential for Japan's energy security, but they expect further talks to be necessary. If unsuccessful in securing a waiver, the Ministry is leaving it up to individual companies whether they wish to continue importing the crude after sanctions take hold on Nov. 4. METI Minister Hiroshige Seko said no guidance is expected to be issued by the government and that companies must decide for themselves.
