According to a survey undertaken by Canada's Fraser Institute of over 250 oil and gas industry executives released on Nov. 29, the US is home to nine of the top 10 locations for upstream oil and gas investment this year. The nine locations in the US were Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Wyoming, North Dakota, Alabama, Montana, the US Gulf of Mexico, and Louisiana. Ashley Stedman, Fraser Institute Senior Policy Analyst and study co-author, remarked "Investors are saying very clearly they prefer the competitive taxes and regulatory regimes of the energy-producing American states." One of the survey respondents noted, "As long as the current administration maintains its tax and regulatory policies, new capital will to flow to the US."
