Both the European and US Jan.benzene contracts settled lower.The European Jan.benzene contract was initially setded at $552/mt on Dec.28,down $65/mt from the Dec.setdement.Spot benzene prices in Europe fell throughout Dec.due to building stocks and lower crude prices.European benzene prices are expected to remain subdued early this year due to high global stocks that have limited export opportunities to the US.
