Guest Editors' Commentary: Summit on Living Donor Liver Transplantation

In 2002, the supplement of Transplantation published the proceedings of the 5 Asian Living Donor Liver Transplantation (LDLT) Centers' LDLT Symposium, held in Kaohsiung, Taiwan (University of Tokyo, Kyoto University, University of Hong Kong, Asan Medical Center, and Kaohsiung Chang Gung Memorial Hospital). With LDLT gaining almost worldwide acceptance and Asia as bastion of LDLT techniques and innovations in the past 20 years, it is timely that we expand the participation to other Asian centers in 2013. The meeting was renamed "Asian Summit on Living Donor Liver Transplantation," replacing the original "5 Asian LDLT Centers Meeting" to acknowledge the participation and contributions of other Asian LDLT centers from China, Korea, and India and hopefully to encourage more participation from other neighboring countries as well.
