Kobe Steel Reports Ordinary Income of 12.7 Bil Yen for 1Q 2018

Kobe Steel, Ltd. reported on 1 August its consolidated financial results for the first quarter (Apr-Jun) of fiscalyear 2018 (1Q18). Ordinary income was 12.749 bil yen, a big drop of 15.5 bil yen (55%). Its steel business reported noprofit, due mainly to costs incurred by temporary troubles in production and integrated production facilities and equipmentat the Kakogawa Works (12.2 bil yen), another 3.7 bil yen for aluminum and copper, and increased maintenance cost forelectricity business (2.5 bil yen). A positive factor was 3.5 bil yen from its construction equipment business. The midtermdividend per share is 10 yen.
