According to a survey by the Japan Iron & Steel Recycling Institute or JISRI, Chairman, Mr. Toru Suzuki, who isalso a Director of Suzutoku Ltd., Japan’s domestic ferrous scrap market in December did not stop downward trend fromNovember continuously. Both prices of No.2 HMS in Kanto and Kansai at the end of the year declined by around Y 1,000to 1,500 from a month ago to around Y 30,000. Especially, the purchase price by exporter in the Tokyo Bay area mainlyfor export was around Y 28,000/ton, and the price gap with the price ex works for electric steelmakers expanded.
