The role of pharmacy in colorectal cancer screening

Access to colorectal cancer screening varies across the UK. This article describes the available tests and how community pharmacists can promote them. Colorectal cancer (CRC), also called bowel cancer, is a leading cause of morbidity and mortality in the UK. In 2012, the disease accounted for nearly 1 in every 10 newly diagnosed cancer cases and more than 1 in every 12 registered cancer deaths1-2, making it the fourth most frequently diagnosed cancer and the second leading cause of cancer-related deaths in that year34.
