You manage a pharmacy department where levels of staff engagement and satisfaction are below the average for your organisation and die national benchmark.You are not aware of any particular issue causing tiiis but are keen to improve the situation to make sure your staff feel valued and happy at work.The pharmacy department at Wirral University Teaching Hospital faced a similar situation some years ago and worked hard to improve staff satisfaction/engagement.This resulted in a significant improvement in NHS Staff Survey scores,with staff describing: 1.Effective teamworking;2.Staff being recognised for their contribution;3.High quality appraisals(supporting equal opportunities and development);4.100% of staff being able to contribute to improvements at work;5.Strong support from line management;6.Good communication between senior management and staff.
