Arch to produce 70 million to 80 million tons in the PRB

While Arch Coal is enjoying massive margins on its metallurgical side of the ledger, the company is sitting back and letting things develop on the thermal side when it comes to the Powder River Basin. The company has about 20 million tons available of its expected 70 million to 80 million tons of production this year, with all but 2 million to 3 million tons of that expected to be 8,800 Btu/lb. coal. While Arch’s met coal is pulling in cash because of those massive margins, out in the PRB they are looking fingernail-thin.
