Singapore—The Kalimantan thermal coal market ended the week on a muted note as trading activities waned ahead of the Lunar New Year holidays, sources said Friday. Traders of seaborne cargoes were also cautious following the coronavirus outbreak in China, raising concerns of weaker coal demand post the holidays. A Singapore-based trader said this could reduce trading activities among market participants. However, Chinese seaborne demand could still pick up after the holidays as the Lunar New Year celebrations have come earlier this year.
