Brazil’s refinery output hit by 2016 recession

Rio de Janeiro-Petrobras trimmed refinery runs amid an ongoing recession that reduced demand for oil products in Brazil for a second consecutive year in 2016, National Petroleum Agency (ANP) data showed Thursday. Oil product output at Brazil’s refineries slid to 1.905 million b/d in 2016, a decline of 6.7% from the 2.041 million b/d produced in 2015, the ANP said. That was the lowest output volume for total oil products since 2010, when the country was still emerging from the after-effects of the 2008-2009 financial crisis.
