Iraqi call for deeper cuts gets tepid response as OPEC prepares to meet

Vienna-Iraqi oil minister Thamir al-Ghadhban came to Vienna with a bold proposal: OPEC and its allies should deepen its production cuts by one-third to 1.6 million b/d to prevent a price slump in the months ahead. So far, however, Ghadhban stands alone. No other ministers have come out in support of the plan. At most, they have said all options will be considered when the OPEC+ coalition meets Thursday and Friday in the Austrian capital.
