Australian gold miner Newcrest said Wednesday that water concerns which threatened production at its Cadia operation in the state of New South Wales have been alleviated. “We now believe that Cadia has secured adequate levels of water to ensure that production is not constrained by water for at least the next two years and possibly beyond,” Newcrest said. Severe drought — which led to the devastating fires across Australia in recent months — had the company worried that Cadia may face water shortages from early 2021 which would have hit production.
