摘要

Australia slashed forecasts for global lithium demand in the wake of COVID-19, and wound back expectations for production volumes while still showing a significant surplus. But the pandemic’s price impacts could result in that shrinking sooner than expected. The Australian Department of Industry, Innovation and Science cut its outlook for global lithium consumption for 2020, 2021 and 2022 to 196,000 mt, 330,000 mt and 414,000 mt of lithium carbonate equivalent, respectively. The volumes, reported in the department’s Resources and Energy Quarterly, are down by 43%, 19% and 16% from the March edition.
