Sibanye-Stillwater CEO says PGM producers have role to play in ESG

South African platinum group metals producer Sibanye-Stillwater is looking to use its position as one of the world’s key PGM companies to refocus on ESG concernswith regard to the growing hydrogen economy, CEO Neal Froneman told S&P Global Platts. “PGMs [platinum group metals] have environmental let’s say connotations, they are smart metals, predominately used in cleaning the [automotive exhaust] air, you can extrapolate into other areas of business that are ESG responsible, platinum has a role to play in the future in terms of the hydrogen economy and fuel cells,” Froneman said in an interview.
