Seaborne lithium market rangebound amid lack of clear direction

Seaborne lithium prices remained static in the week to Oct. 9, as the market lacked clear direction and participants saw prevailing stability. S&P Global Platts assessed lithium carbonate unchanged at $6,500/mt and lithium hydroxide flat at $9,000/mt on Oct. 9. Both prices are for battery-grade quality material on a CIF North Asia basis, reflecting deliveries to the main ports of China, Japan and South Korea. Lithium carbonate, however, is normalized to deliveries at the Shanghai port.
