Q2 gold output up on qtr at Russia’s Polyus, reiterates 2020 target

Polyus, Russia’s largest gold producer, said April-June output rose 16% quarter on quarter to 690,000 oz despite a coronavirus outbreak at its largest mine. That meant first-half production was stable year on year, and Polyus reiterated its full year guidance of 2.8 million oz. The amount of ore mined in Q2 declined 5% on quarter to 17.36 million mt, but was 11% higher on year. Over the same period, the company processed 11.75 million mt of ore, up 10% on quarter and 8% year on year. The recovery rate stood at 83.4%.
