Global magnesium markets are seeing a more pronounced disconnect in pricing, as European prices are currently out of line with Chinese replacement costs, while US prices remain inflated over the rest of the world because of antidumping duties. Traders said several aluminum buying inquiries emerged in Europe last week and this week, but the buyers were targeting prices lower than parity with new Chinese orders and looking for traders to hold offers firm for a week or more.
