The arrival of our first ADCP Stream Pro in April last year brought about a bit ofexcitement. Since then we have been steadily getting used to this new technology,which is a far cry from the Pygmy's we had previously been using. The Rio Grandearrived late last year and we have been busy getting the boat set up for it, and witha bit a help from Andrew and Evan from Niwa we are finally starting to get somegood gaugings out of it. We put the river cat boat to good use a few weeks backwhile carrying out a trout habitat study on the Mataura River. With the Stream Prostrapped securely on top, it was invaluable for getting data from sections of rivertoo deep or swift for us to cross safely, although it did require a lot of rope andETO's hanging out of trees, without which we wouldn't have got the valuable datawe were looking for.
