Sinopec-Sabic JV Awards EPC Contract For New Polycarbonate Plant in China

Beijing— Sinopec Sabic Tianjin Petrochemical Co. (SSTPC), a 50-50 joint venture of Sinopec and Sabic, has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract to Sinopec Shanghai Engineering for a new polycarbonate plant in Tianjin Province, China. The $1.7-billion project, originally envisioned in 2011, involves construction of a 260,000-t/y polycarbonate facility, which is scheduled to be operational by 2020, Sabic confirmed to PCN.
