QP & CPChem to Partner in Developing World-Scale Petchem Complex in Qatar

Doha-Qatar Petroleum (QP) and Chevron Phillips Chemical Co. (CPChem) have signed an agreement to pursue the development, construction and operation of a world-scale petrochemicals complex in Ras Laffan Industrial City, Qatar (PCN, 21 May 2018, p 1). The project would include a 1.9-million-t/y ethane cracker, which QP earlier said would be the Middle East's "largest." as well as two high-density polyethylene (HDPE) units with a combined capacity of 1.68-million t/y.
