Borealis Shuts Down Steam Cracker Following Fire at Stenungsund Site

Stenunssund- Borealis declared force majeure on its cracker operations in Stenungsund, Sweden, after a fire started in a compressor on 9 May 2020, resulting in a shutdown of the cracker. The low-density polyethylene (LDPE) plant is the only unit affected by the cracker outage, the company told PCN. All other polyolefin plants at the site are running.
